Vintage Style is Taking over the World. Not only because it's aesthetically pleasing and offers a cozy vibe to any interior space but also because it's eco-friendly and saves new resources 100%.
Why is the Vintage Look so Popular? Major cities all around the world have cafe’s, restaurants, hotels and other commercial spaces styled in a very unique vintage-y style that is specific to the given location and highlights their culture. Ikea is bringing back old design pieces to celebrate 75 years in the industry. Every "zero waster" knows that buying second hand home goods is one of the most sustainable way to shop for furniture. There's definitely more to it than just the look itself.
I've admired the “old” things since I was very little. This appreciation of nostalgia and imagining what life was like before I was born grew into a source of my design inspiration today. Oddly enough my grandparents have a very unique home, but I wasn't paying too much attention to it. Oddly enough, had to live in New York for almost three years, admire cafe's such as Bakeri in Williamsburg, the most artsy neighborhood in the US, in order to see and appreciate the beauty that I was surrounded with ever since I was a child.
Returning to my hometown after a while, stopping at my Grandma's I couldn't stop snapping photos. My grandparents inherited many historical items from Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and curated their Home so well 30 years ago, that it still works great as a Modern Vintage Interior today.
When it comes to redesigning your new place, try Pre-Loved! Including pre-owned items, sourced from local vintage stores or secondhand platforms into your interiors can help you create a unique style and will be less expensive. This enables you to spend your budget on other elements in your life. If you have any questions, need advice or simply enjoy my Grandma's Styling get in touch over email or leave a comment. Thanks for sharing this personal post. Much like you, I have appreciated vintage, love-worn, and eco-friendly living since childhood. My lifestyle has always included shopping for and living with reclaimed, recycled and earth healthy items as much as possible (clothing, books, tools, furniture, food, etc.) because it aligns with my spirit. I love being reminded that others still have an appreciation for sustainable living also.
